Yoplait Yogurt & Susan G. Komen Save Lids to Save Lives chose us for their campaign in 2011
and posted a short story regarding Martha and I. Since it is difficult to read what it says,
I will post it here.
Hillary and her sister Martha were inseparable all of their lives until Martha lost
her battle with stage 4 breast cancer. Hillary wants people to know that
the 1-8 women who will be diagnosed with this disease are more then just statistics.
They have names – and her sister’s was Martha Bess Goodson Crawford.
"We must find a cure". I will not let her death be in vain.
I will fight for her and the others with every breath I take.
We are a grass roots organization that is out to help the people in the
Central Florida 9 County area in their time of need i.e., mortage/rent
payments, utility bills, food, essentials.
If you are a vendor and would like to donate an item that can be used
at a fundraiser or a monetary donation we would definitely
appreciate it.
We hope to make 2013 the year Martha’s Angels, Inc. becomes a
household name.
I am excited to say that we filed for our 501(c)3 papers, a year
and a day after Martha’s death. Now here we are one year later
and the IRS has informed us that we were approved and our papers
are in the mail.
We are incorporated with a certificate of Status
and
Federal ID # and recognized by the State of Florida
as a Non-Profit
Organization.
Our story has been written in our local Oviedo/Winter Springs
Magazine & the Seminole Chronicle.
I have also had the privilege of speaking before the;
Oviedo Rotary Club & Oviedo/Winter Springs Optimist Club.
We have also been recognized by the Seminole County
Transportation School Bus Drivers.
We have no overhead nor do we take a salary. We came up with the slogan
"EVERYONE HAS A NAME" since we believe that when you come into this world
you come in with a name and when you leave, you go out with one. There are no
statistics or toe tags. So when you speak of your loved one or friend,
we ask that you use their name!
“I swore never to be silent whenever
and
wherever human beings endure suffering
and humiliation. We must
always take
sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor,
never the victim. Silence encourages
the tormentor, never the tormented.”
Elie Wiesel
